northward is reached by a short drive off Dubinky Road about 3.7 miles from top of the S Curve. Here, the vehicle is parked about halfway out and a HIKE is taken, angling southwest and up a gentle incline to the rim. What a view; below, west and northward! Where time is limited, this is the most spectacular of all the Rainbow Rims approaches and hikes. Guess what: Lv Clutch Bag Men The beautiful rainbow colored drainway seen 500 feet blow, has an access road mostly in the washbed, up to a parking place for a grand hike into the high feeder drains. Expert rock hikers may quickly notice a long, high climb out to top country may be possible. It surely appears so in the pictures we have taken. This inner access to hiking the drainway is a story of its own, and very beautiful.

When the TOP of the S Curve is reached, a road heads west. This goes to a great overlook of the Tenmile Canyon Country, 600 to 800 feet below, in about a mile. A fork left goes to a high point having a daring old dugway into an area that was extensively surface mined during WWII. The country immediately below and southward is the area traveled by the earlier mentioned trail prior to the S Curve. The old dugway may be taken by hikers, bicycles, motorcycles, ATV's and raised and lockered Jeeps. This 1/2 mile trip is extremely worthwhile, however taken, as views from here are widest and most outstanding.
On our most recent trip, we spotted some rather fresh footprints of hikers coming up from the south rims to the wide open views available off the higher part of the old surface mined point. It would be gratifying to hear from anyone who has done some riding and/or hiking in this area, or simply those who would like more information, call me evenings. You may find some of my trail books at local outlets. Remember, we tell of these places, but your decision to see them is up to you. You are on your own. Most local adventure travelers already know Dubinky Road (Grand County 137). It is a right turn off Dead Horse Point Road at mile marker 14. It then forks right in about 1.5 miles, leaving the Spring Bottom Road. Along the way, Dubinky Wash is crossed near the old ranchsite. It then passes a backfork on the left that is an old, but useful, road out to the tip of Deadman Point. Next, a cattleguard is crossed and Spring Canyon POINT Road intersection (left) is soon passed. Dubinky Windmill is in sight; dead ahead. In about another 1.5 miles, a gentle, climbing S Curve is reached. A trail left here goes to 1967 prospects, and continues to a sandy hill. This road runs to the southern beginning of the Rainbow Rims and makes a scenic, but sandy, trip to Spring Point Road. A right turn here goes to many grand views and daring trails on Bartlett/Hidden Canyon and upper Tenmile Canyon rims. This is Radio Road
There is another road 1/4 mile farther along Dubinky Road that also heads west to the rim in about a mile. It is much rougher due to age deterioration. It goes first to an overlook, then follows the rim a quarter mile, to end at Prominence Point. Views north and west are intriguing. A point hike northward of about 1/2 mile, furnishes grand views into the main northern drainway ofthe north rims. An earlier, right branch of this rim road leads to beautiful overlooks of the colorful upper Main Drain, or Rainbow Wash.
