The visitors won most of the other personal battles though. Another Posh old boy Craig Morgan was excellent against Britt Assombalonga despite a vast difference in their natural cruising speed, while Lee Frecklington showed what a fine player he is, now he's not asked to pass the ball constantly in a sideways direction.
standard of crossing.
The Millers, helped by a strong wind and at times heavy rain, penned Posh back for long spells which was a frustration, as when the unchanged home side did manage to string three passes together they looked to have the pace to unsettled the visiting back four.
League One report photos: Sixth spot in League One looks more and more like a poisoned chalice. The gap between the top five and the rest of the division appears to be of Grand Canyon proportions.

Posh saw more of the ball as a result and a switch to three at the back gave Mark Little the licence to roam freely down the right wing. It's quite worrying though when a full back is the most potent attacker, especially one with such an erratic Louis Vuitton Neverfull Gm Pivoine
Obviously referee Carl Berry wouldn't be influenced by such antics and his award of a spot kick when it looked entirely possible that Ben Nugent had kicked the ball rather than Kieran Agard was honest, if inaccurate. Agard, the lesser known former Posh player on Rotherham duty having been given just one substitute appearance when on loan from Everton, duly despatched the spot kick to give his side a lead their first half display demanded.
Rotherham's match winning goal from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time was deemed controversial by the home camp (it should be remembered that Posh won the away fixture with a dubiously awarded penalty), but there shouldn't have been any doubt that the visitors deserved their victory, even if, as Ferguson suggested, they didn't create too many chances.
Posh had no one with those qualities. They huffed and puffed, Swanson surged forward menancingly at times, McCann delivered a couple of decent set pieces including one in the final minute which caused a bit of a scramble and Washington and Ajose had occasional moments of promise, but Rotherham saw the game out reasonably comfortably.
Rotherham: Adam Collin, Kari Arnason, Craig Morgan, James Tavernier, Richard Smallwood, Joe Skarz, Lee Frecklington, Nicky Adams (sub Tom Hitchcock, 69 mins), Ben Pringle, Alex Revell, Kieran Agard.
Indeed the only relevant statistics right now are the 11 point gap between Posh and fourth placed Rotherham and the fact that Ferguson's men have lost 15 times Louis Vuitton Evasion Sunglasses
Posh are now just three points clear of the pack chasing the final play off spot available. It's a position gained, and held, as much by the incompetence of others as by their own skills.
It's a terrific record of consistency that the rest of the top five have managed to match or better. Only the most blinkered of Posh fan could possibly approach future two legged games against the rest of the teams currently in the play off zone with confidence it will be a journey of hope rather than expectation.
Posh player ratings: Not enough Posh players were better than average
Ben Pringle looked a complete class act. His pass to Adams for his opportunity was a high class moment from a player with great vision as well as skill.
But only once, when Mark Little pounced on a cross field pass and slipped the ball to Conor Washington did Posh look likely to score. Washington moved the ball on to Ajose who wasted the opportunity with a weak shot that was palmed to safety by Rotherham 'keeper Adam Collin. Collin excelled himself in much more demanding style 20 minutes from time when rushing from his line Schmeichel style to block Washington's route to goal following an excellent pass from Ajose.

this season, while Evans' team have been beaten on just six of 37 occasions.
That's the only logical conclusion to be drawn from Peterborough United's two meetings with 'The Millers' this season. Posh survived a battering to fluke a 1 0 win at the New York Stadium in September, but the score line was reversed at London Road today (March 22) when the visitors were again the dominant force.
The Millers are strong though and a physical, committed approach has troubled Posh all season. 'Nicer' teams like Orient and MK Dons have struggled to contain Posh, but a side managed by Wansford based Steve Evans will always be athletic and powerful rather than pretty, and woe betide anyone who goes against this manager's wishes.
was pretty much that as far as Posh goal scoring chances were concerned. Ferguson made two substitutions at half time, replacing the hapless Nugent and the ineffectual Josh McQuoid with Grant McCann and Danny Swanson.
Rotherham opted for containment for much of the second half, but still carved out the best opportunity when three passes led to Nicky Adams bearing down on Bobby Olejnik luckily the Posh number one won the duel.
Evans' above Fergie in battle of the local bosses
Posh boss Darren Ferguson might have used statistics to back up an argument that his side were worthy of a point, but the strengths that can't be purely defined by numbers like speed, organisation, tactics and intelligence were all battles won comfortably by the visitors. As were most headers and virtually all loose balls.
Evans must be the scariest boss in the Football League. It's quite possible he disputed the way the referee tossed the coin at the start of the game, because he pretty much contested every other decision, small or big with stampedes through the technical area like a rhino on heat.
